How we make them:
We intercept scrap electrical wiring on its way to the landfill, strip it of its plastic coating, and then bend and hammer it into shape. We use steel letter stamps to mark them with the plant names you provide (2mm or 3/16”) and sharpen the tip for easy placement into your growing medium. Lastly, they are cleaned and rubbed with beeswax.
Cleaning:
They can be easily cleaned with a wipe of olive oil or beeswax on a rag at the end of one season, or the beginning of another. If they've gotten really dirty, simply boil them in 3 cups of water with 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of salt. As soon as they look shiny, pull them out, rinse them off with soap and water, and dump the hot water down the sink.
